Pat on the Back

Published by angelinachai at 11:48 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

A pat on the back usually means praising someone for a job well done. But did you know back in the olden days, what did this simple gesture meant? Actually, it’s still been carried out till today.

Try slapping the back or just patting the shoulders of some chinese guy in line at a betting shop. He’ll punch your face out. Too some chinese, mostly gamblers, a slap at the back means slapping away their fortune luck. You will end up taking the blame as to the reason why they did not make money gambling.

Another meaning to not slap the back of an Asian would be you’ll slapping away part of their souls. Few per cent of their are slapped out of the body when you do that and would take a few moments before it got back in. Of course, not all Chinese are that superstitious. Just mostly gamblers in this aspect.

So, the next time you decide to do that, think twice. Just a slight nudge or peck at the shoulders while calling their names will do just fine.
